September (18 Months to 19 Months)

Sam turned 20 months a few days ago, and he has definitely done a lot of growing up in the last few months.  I figured I should do some catch-up posts so I don't forget anything.  

(A lot of the details here are for my own benefit....the baby book can only hold so much info, but I don't want to forget all of this).

September into October

We spent a lot of time with friends and family during September.   We had a wedding in Kansas City to go to, so Zach's parents came over for the weekend to be with Sam.  We also went to Topeka for a family gathering with my mom's side...there are quite a few great-grandchildren that are close to Sam's age, so it was a blast to see them together.  Also, my mom came over to our house a few times to help out with Sam and random things around the house.   It has really been awesome to be able to see family so often.

We also started up with a lot of playgroups with new friends in Warrensburg.   There are a TON of kids in our neighborhood, so we have a great group every time we all get together.  There is one couple in particular that we've seen often.  We knew them in Minot, but they moved here about a year before us.  Their little boy, Lucas, was born just six weeks after Sam...the two of them have become really good friends!  They seek each other out in groups, they'll dance and laugh, and Sam calls him "Lukey."  It is fun to see him connect with other kids and have someone like Lucas that he treats like a friend.

He still continues to run everywhere, and has become especially fond of running in the backyard (now that we can step on our sod).  He loves coloring, play dough, digging in anything, and painting.

 

September was a month of word expansion.... working on colors and becoming comfortable with counting, the letters of the alphabet, and trying to repeat any word he hears.  He doesn't need to do sign language any more, because he can put enough words together that we know what he wants (like "milk please" or "hungry").   There is a lot less guess work for us now.  Loving that.

He has been a good eater and has had very few night terrors this month.  We are getting him to drink more water and apple juice to cut down on whole milk.   Still loving construction vehicles, books, and airplanes.
