This kid is a crack-up. And has really grown from a baby to a little boy.
At the beginning of Sam's 11th month he started saying "hi" on command. He is still a big fan of "patty cake" and "so big," but has started to focus on a few more additions to his daily conversations. Here is a video of "hi" when it first started.
Zach started saying "A-E-I-O-U" one day and Sam started mimicking him as best he could. So far he has A-E, and then skips to U....but he does it very staccato like....so it is pretty funny to listen to. He has also started saying "ba" for ball, and if you ask him to go find a ball in his toy chest, he'll go pick one out of his pile of toys. He says "mmm-ah" for our dog, Mia, and also calls the Yorkie in one of his books "mmm-ah." He puts his hand out and makes the H sound for "hot" when we are near the stove or if we tell him something is hot, he turns the light switches on and off when we let him, and also likes to press the start buttons for me on the washer/dryer. Once they're started, he'll sit and supervise the cycle for a bit....and then helps me unload the dryer when it is done. Child labor.
He recognizes who he is talking about when he says "mama" and "dada" and is VERY attached. During the day, he follows me from room to room --- won't let me out of his sight. On the weekends, he has two more legs to attach himself to, so that is always nice.
His interest in food has dropped, but it seems to be that he just has more important things to crawl to and whatnot. Very squirmy these days. He has done well with all kinds of meat, and is liking cheese and yogurt more than when we first started. He still takes up to 32 ounces of formula a day, so I'm not worried about him not eating huge meals. He likes to be in charge of what he is eating, but chunks of bananas/grapes/blueberries don't seem to thrill him. He prefers the crunch of a Gerber puff or Mum Mum rice cracker. Oh well.
Even with less food, he is growing just fine! He has gained plenty of weight, and standing next to other kids that are almost two years old, he looks to be almost the same height as them. It is becoming difficult to rock him to sleep because he is so tall (yes....I still do it....they say not to, but I'm going to do it until he puts the kabash on it). He is wearing 12-18 month clothing and size 3 disposables when we use them.
His movement is still mainly crawling. He loves to be chased and will go into a super-sonic crawl where he puts his head down and rockets himself to the other side of the room somehow. I get exhausted! He is pulling up on everything and will transfer from the ottoman to the chair/sofa. We don't see much long term balance yet, so we're expecting it to be awhile before he actually stands steady and then walks. Fine by me. :) It would be great if he didn't start walking until we move in my opinion!
Oh yes....for those that don't know, we are being re-stationed. :) We'll be moving to Whiteman AFB sometime this summer, which will put us a fantastic two hours from my parents and three from Zach's. Dreams really do come true! More details to come once we get closer....
Here is one more video from the beginning of his 11th month. :)

Anxiously awaiting a post about Sam's birthday!
